Move-In Day! – Corporate Housing Solutions For International Transfers! (Part 3 of 3)

MOVING IN – CURRENT COMPANY APARTMENT

LOCATION: EBISU, TOKYO

11:55AMMOVE-IN BEGINS – FREA is onsite at the new company apartment to receive the incoming movers.  Our client in this case landed in Tokyo early in the morning and is already in the apartment as well.  Electricity/Water have been scheduled to already be usable from the beginning of the day so cool air from the wall A/C units is already circulating in the apartment when we arrive.

The movers confirm the location and positioning for the arriving furniture—a dining table set, refrigerator, large pull-out sofa, TV stand, and one bed frame.

1:30PMMOVER COMPLETION CHECK – Moving-in of furniture and appliances has wrapped up.  Upon installing the washing machine the moving staff starts an empty test load to ensure the machine and water drainage are working properly.

FREA staff also completes a final confirmation with the moving staff that everything has been transported (including a quick check of the moving vehicle itself).

1:35PMGAS SETUP – The gas technician arrives to open the gas supply for the apartment.  After confirming the utility contract details and checking that everything is working correctly, the technician also provides a quick demonstration to our client on how to operate the stove, hot water temperature settings and some bonus features in his bathroom.  FREA staff provides interpretation for this helpful information as the technician only speaks Japanese.

1:45PMNEW FURNITURE DELIVERY – The representatives from the furnishing lease provider arrive slightly early to the apartment (originally scheduled for 2PM).  They are here to deliver the larger bed frame, new mattresses and install brand new, custom-made curtains (which we mentioned in the last article).

After confirming the placement and direction of the bed, leasing staff unload the pieces and rapidly, skillfully assemble the new bed fame.

2:45PMAPARTMENT WALKTHROUGH & ORIENTATION – With assembly of the new bed completed, all of the leased furniture and appliances are fully in place.  FREA staff performs a detailed walkthrough of the apartment and takes reference notes of any noticeable property stains or flaws (to be submitted to the property management). There are a few other pieces of move-in paperwork requiring the individual tenant’s signature, so we collect those as well.

We also accompany the client on a brief walkthrough of the shared areas of the building, including how to open the mailbox combination lock and a quick overview on sorting garbage.

Internet setup was unfortunately not available to setup over the weekend, but we had scheduled an appointment for the service provider to come for installation early in the following week.  The existing company router was passed directly to the client with a final friendly reminder to be onsite for the upcoming Internet installation block.

3:15PMFINAL CHECK – After a final confirmation with our newly moved-in client that everything had been satisfactorily taken care of, move-in for the day is declared complete!

That concludes our corporate housing series, and we wish our newly moved in client the very best on his stay in Japan.

We hope this series  provided an informative, transparent look at our corporate relocation service offerings, and how we can help to relieve much of the stress associated with moving internationally!

Please feel free to consider FREA for your corporate relocation needs in Tokyo, Japan!
